Volunteer Trip with Amazon Pueblo

I just got my first passport and I have the opportunity to make my first international trip to Colombia in July to help teach music and English in a rural village, as well as help with building and expanding plumbing and water filtration systems. I am super stoked to be able to use my knowledge and skills for good while also expanding my view of the world.

I am raising money for the trip because I need to purchase supplies to stay healthy while there (food, water, medical care) as well as textbooks and lesson materials, and of course, the travel fare to get there. I want to make sure I'm adequately prepared as this is a very big trip and project to take on - especially for my first time traveling internationally. 

The volunteer group I'll be working with is called Amazon Pueblo and was started by an old friend I used to lead camping trips with about a decade ago. More on the village and project here!

Mini-bio on me: I'm 28, a professional musician/music teacher with a degree in management, avid performer, runner, animal lover, vegetarian, and blossoming cook. I've lived, performed, and taught all over the East Coast of the US, but I've always wanted to travel the world. After a series of major life changes and losses - ending with the loss of my best friend, my dog Zelda, to cancer - I decided it's time for me to put these dreams in motion. The only obstacle standing between me and seeing the world is now financial. I am trying very hard not to go into debt to make these dreams come true - and that's where you come in.
