Montjoie * Hunt * Morgan * Ostermann

We have entered a South African team into the Mongol Rally - 15,000 km in a car completely unsuited for the adventure.

Your donation will go to supporting the team and help them along the way. You can make a REWARD donation or a **NEW** option is to sponsor specific items.
Our Budget is in excess of £20,000/$40,000 and includes the car, flights, food, accommodation and 1 Yak ride for each team member...!!

Africa is an inter-weaved story of journey and of humanity. It is the birthplace of humankind and the starting point for the migrations that resulted in the distribution and variety of people we see today. We are all a part of that original African diaspora.

Africa also has a legacy of grand expedition, intrepid exploration and voyage into the undiscovered. This is why we as Team South Afristan have put ourselves on this journey. We hope to bring a message of “Ubuntu - the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”, to those we meet on our journey and to celebrate our cultural and ethnic diversity. We are privileged that 2014 marked the first time that a generation of South Africans that were Born Free were able to vote in our country’s elections.

For adventurers with a passion to take on extreme challenges the Mongol Rally is ideal as it takes participants across some of the most remarkable and difficult terrain in the world. 300 teams choose their 15,000 km mad dash route starting in London (UK) and ending in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) travelling in a sub-compact car completing the rally in a 4 to 6 week period. It is NOT a race! For the South African team this challenge fits in perfectly with our philosophy of exploring and discovering the world; following the road less travelled; and, experiencing the richness and diversity of places, people and cultures in as many countries as possible. We have planned a route through 19 different countries. However, the opportunity for us is so much more than this!

We are a proudly South African team, we come from a country of cultural and ethnic diversity, and Ubuntu is part of our heritage and within our spirit. For us this is not just an extreme adventure, it is an opportunity to partner with our chosen charity Gumboots and help inspire underprivileged African children to follow their dreams, and to meet as many people as possible in the countries we visit and get to experience their cultures as well as share our love of our country with them.
