Hi, my name is Sophia Love. I am an eight year old harpist. I began playing harp in January of 2017 and discovered that I want to be a professional harpist when I grow up.
As I have been getting into playing jazz music with my dad, and moving toward learning more difficult classical peices, I learned that I needed a pedal harp.
A pedal harp is a harp that has seven foot pedals which allows me to change key centers with my feet. This way, I can play more complicated peices and change notes with my feet while my hands focus on playing the music.
Pedal harps range from 10-50 thousand dollars! The one that I am saving up for is a Camac Little Big Blue. You can see a picture of it Here.
This harp will be an instrument I can play for the next 40 + years and will bring so much joy to myself and the world.
I have been busking on Pearl Street playing my harp for dollars and have made $1,998.95 so far (as of September 2017). Check out this short article about me busking on Pearl Street to save up for my harp Here.

Fun fact about this song's arrangement is it was inspired, in part, by harpist Jakez Francois who happens to be the president of the company that makes the kind of harp I want to buy.

I am learning the Suzuki method. Book 4 songs require a pedal harp to play them. At the rate I am learning that will happen in about one years time.
I have also decided to give 10% of what I raise to an organization that gives instruments to kids who can't afford them. If you would like to learn more about the organization I will be donating to, you can do that Here.
