Sofia's Joy!

Without A doubt Little Sofia’s Story Will Hit Home On So Many Levels!

Potential Donor,                                           February 6, 2015

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. A dark cloud descended recently upon 5 year old sweet
Sofia and her Family, here in our town of Georgina and I am compelled to do what I can to help them out.
I am sure you will want to do the same! They need our support because Joy is hard for them to find right
now.
Sofia, a Friend and junior kindergarten classmate of my 5 year old Son was diagnosed with leukemia in
November, 2014. She has been undergoing treatment at Sick Kids in Toronto every week since then and
has not been able to get out of their home, much less attend school. Her mother, Laura, has had to quit
her job as a result of her illness. It must be horrible for Corrado, Sofia's Dad, has tried to maintain a steady pay check coming in but has had to take a lot of time off to care and support Sofia and the rest of the family . I can't begin to picture how hard it is for Sofia’s 13 year old brother Angelo as he witnesses what his little sister must endure day in and day out. Sofia’s diagnoses and struggle has flipped this family’s world upside down.

Sofia is the sweetest little shy soul. She attended my son's 5th birthday party this past July. I could tell
how big a deal it was for her because it was her first 'Boy Party'. She is a little gem and so full of life.
I recently stopped by the family’s house to drop off a little gift for Sophia and my heart broke even more
seeing her little face, she seemed so sad and that energetic light was missing from her beautiful brown
eyes. She is feeling a bit better this past little while but in the coming months of April and May her treatment will become much more vigorous at 3-4 per week depending on how her little body and spirit
are handling it.
Imagine one of our children, grandchildren or any child close to us fighting this battle, not being able to go out and play with friends, attend school or really go out in public in general. Having to undergo treatment after treatment and being so scared, exhausted and feeling sick most of the time! My heart breaks at the very thought of this! This young Family is living one day at a time.
As a community, we can come together and bring some joy and hope to this family’s lives. Perhaps
they'll see that there is some light through the darkness as a result of our efforts. With lots of positive energy
love and some donations we can definitely make a profound difference.
I'm starting with an online auction which will run for as long as donations keep coming in. I am open to
accepting service donations, event party donations, cash or anything you feel could be a benefit for
Sofia. I am also trying to plan an actual community get together at some point when the weather gets a bit
warmer.
If you are interested in speaking with me directly or donating a service or item for the online auction
please feel free to call or email me. I am hoping to have the auction up and running by the end of
February 2015.

Yours Gratefully,

Natasha Taylor
