Smithson Valley Young Life

In July of 2016 Smithson Valley Young Life witnessed God set a record for the area in sending 44 high school kids to Frontier Ranch, Young Life Summer Camp located in the mountains of Colorado.  For many of these kids Young Life is the only exposure they receive of Christ's Gospel.  Lives were changed forever.

It is always a challenge to get kids to go to camp.  There is always the "teenage procrastination" to over come as well as scheduling challenges and of course, financial.  When faced with the decision as a staff with what to do about getting kids to camp we made a unanimous decision to "just get them there" -- and we did.  

For a single high schooler to go to Frontier costs $799 per head.  While no one on this trip went for free, we did not have everyone whole in their financial commitment.  When faced with the decision as a staff to tell a kid "You don't have enough money, you have to stay home;" we decided to just get them there and let God do the rest! 

We are now at the end of our fiscal year and this decision has put some strain on our territory.  We are currently running a deficit of $18,810.00 which we need to raise within the next 45 days.   For this campaign we are asking everyone who reads this to prayerfully consider helping us "Fund Camp!"  We hope to dramatically exceed this financial Goal and any money that would be raised beyond this number will be used to provide scholarships for those kids that truly do not have the funds to go to camp.  

44 kids loaded a bus this summer and chose to remove themselves from their day to day and step into something unfamiliar, where God met them--in their hurt, guilt, shame, or simple curiosity--only to have an experience like nothing they have ever experienced before.  We hope that your support will not only help clear our camp deficit but also that you would help us raise awareness of such an amazing week where your child, your family member, your neighbor, your student, or your niece or nephew might get to experience God in a most unique way!  Thank you so much for your support of Smithson Valley Young Life!
