As many of you all may already know that our dear Sensei Tonya's father, Robert E. Parker Jr. better known as "Skip", recently passed away from a long fight with cancer. Skip was a Navy Veteran who served in Korea and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Ann Parker, daughter, Tonya Parker Lavender, sons Frank Parker, Robert Parker III, his grand children Dakota Lavender, Macayla Lavender, Trevor Parker, Tori Parker, Tia Parker, and Aubrey Parker and his three sisters.
Sensei Tonya always says that she has become the strong woman that she is today because of her fathers pivotal influence through out her life. She is more than just a leader, mentor, and teacher. She is a great friend! She is passionate about her teachings and her “kids” at her dojo.
A short quote from Sensei Tonya's Facebook post describes how we should live, "Our time here on earth is short, life can get in the way if we let it. Your work, business, chores and etc will be there tomorrow. Take the time to spend with your family before they are gone. Because, I guarantee if you don't, regret sets in when they pass. No one really knows Gods great plan for us, but I bet he would want us to put family first and material things last." - Sensei T
This fund is being set up to help with Skip's burial costs because as soon as the company he worked for found out he had this disease, he was fired. He lost all coverage and benefits. As you all know this can place quite the financial burden on a family when they should be focused on comforting one another. Skip will be buried in a military cemetery in Middletown, CT and they will supply the headstone. The family will be responsible for casket and funeral costs. All funds over the burial costs will go to the family. Any and all help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
