Skagerak Future Problem Solvers

Donation protected
Our students in grades 5/6, and 8/10 have used critical thinking and creativity to help them solve potential future problems in areas such as infectious diseases, toxic materials, philanthropic-capitalism cloud storage and de-extinction.  Through the Future Problem Solver programme, students have been taught how to think, rather than what to think.  They have had to raise their level of comprehension and view issues from multiple perspectives, identifying underlying problems and coming up with possible solutions, which they then turn into an action plan.

Skagerak has become the first team from Norway to be invited to attend the International Conference run by the Future Problem Solvers Programme International http://www.fpspi.org/ at University of Massachusetts-Amherst in Amherst, USA.  The conference runs from 5-9 of June.

All three teams (Senior, Middle and Junior) have the possibility to attend.  This is excellent news not only for Skagerak, but for Norway, too, whom they will be representing.  Approximately 2200 students from all over the world attend this conference annually.

We need help to get our teams there!

Predicted costs for this trip are as follows:

Flight / per student:  approximately Nok 6 500

Accommodation on campus (which includes all meals) / per student:  approximately Nok 4 700 (USD 600)

Transfer by coach from Boston to the university:  Nok 1 000 (Nok 500 each way)

We have tried to minimise the legs of the journey, yet keep the cheapest deal.
