Some of you may not know, but I am legally blind. I was born with cataracts, which were removed when I was a toddler. This was in the days before laser surgery, so some of each lens came out with each cataract. I also have astigmatism, which makes it difficult for me to focus. There are now some surgical options that might give me normal vision, but they can be extremely painful and very risky.
On Wednesday March 4th, I was fortunate to have a demonstration of eSight. eSight Eyewear consists of a pair of glasses attached to a camera and two small LED screens, one in front of each eye. The image projected onto the LED screens can be magnified and contrast adjusted in order for the wearer to see details he/she would not have been able to see without the eyewear.

During this demonstration, I was able to try out the eSight eyewear, and I was amazed. My visual acuity with my normal glasses on is 20/200, meaning that I can read the very top row of an eye test and probably not much else. With the eSight, my visual acuity was measured at 20/40 (!!!), meaning that I could read nearly every line of the eye test. I explain my experience below.
This is expensive technology. The ticket price is $15,000! So any help anyone can provide is so very appreciated! Every donor will receive a personalized letter of thanks from ME!
