Please help the Florida Nu Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon raise money for the Buoniconti Fund & the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis! This April 17th, 2015, the Florida Nu Chapter will be hosting the 5th Annual SigEp Block Party! Come out and support us, as we "Stand Up For Those Who Can't!"

The Buoniconti Fund
In 1985, Barth A. Green, M.D. and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Nick Buoniconti helped found The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis after Nick’s son, Marc, sustained a spinal cord injury during a college football game. Today, The Miami Project is the world’s most comprehensive spinal cord injury (SCI) research center, and a designated Center of Excellence at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The Miami Project’s international team is housed in the Lois Pope LIFE Center and includes more than 300 scientists, researchers, clinicians and support staff who take innovative approaches to the challenges of spinal cord and brain injuries. Committed to finding a cure for paralysis resulting from spinal cord injury and to seeing millions worldwide walk again, the Buoniconti family established The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis in 1992, a non-profit organization devoted to assisting The Miami Project achieve its national and international goals.

Sigma Phi Epsilon
In 2009, Brother David Del Cristo, former President of the Florida Nu Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, was involved in an accident that left him partially paralyzed. To this day, Del Cristo is still partially paralyzed, forcing him to wear a leg brace that keeps his leg and foot in a certain position that allows him to walk. After a partial recovery from his accident, Del Cristo returned to the Fraternity. It was at this point that the Chapter decided to dedicate themselves to helping find a cure for paralysis and thus, the Annual SigEp Block Party was founded. The Philanthropic effort was made to raise funds for the Buoniconti Fund that serves as the fundraising arm for the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

At the last Block Party in 2013, the Florida Nu Chapter broke new heights by donating $12,000 to the Buoniconti Fund. This year, we need the support of the entire FIU community to break more records!
