This morning at about 8:45, my strong, beautiful, vibrant Sheridan left her earthly home to continue on to her next journey. I held her close and thanked her for letting me be her mom, and told her it was okay to let go. Her passing was peaceful, and she was surrounded by family and her loving friends. She fought hard and long over these past three weeks, but in the end her spirit just couldn't fight anymore. I cannot yet imagine my life without her bright light in it. She was the center of my life, my world, as is my amazingly strong son, Justin, my rock.
I cannot say enough about the nurses in PICU at TMC. I could not have asked for more compassionate care, and left there with new friends that will be there for the rest of my lifetime. They fell in love with my girl:.
We are in the process of making arrangements, including a celebration of her life. I will post details as soon as we have a plan in place. Her only request was to be taken to her favorite beach, where she could forever be with her beloved dolphins. Her dream was to go to UCLA to become a marine biologist, and she loved diving with all of the wondrously beautiful sea life near Catalina Island.
I cannot express enough how much your love, support and prayers have meant to me and my family. Although we are devastated by grief and this tremendous loss, we are a strong family that includes amazing friends, and we will get thru this together. Sheridan taught me so many things, most importantly how to be strong when things were the hardest. She would expect no less from me now. So now I say, don't worry baby girl, mama's got this.
Your donations have been a blessing. We will still have some medical costs to cover, but most importantly, now we must cover her final expenses. If it is in your heart, please donate anything you can so that we can fulfill Sheridan's final wishes for a celebration and then to take her home.
Love and light to you all. I find comfort in knowing that my Sher Bear is now my angel, dancing and laughing again into her next new adventure. I feel her with me, and it gives me comfort.
