I am truly counting my Blessings at this moment! We just encountered our first tropical storm, Lidia. We were very lucky. We had a lot of water enter our home in Los Cabos, through the roof, walls and windows, but we were able to keep everything cleaned up. With our house being at the top of a hill, we are very fortunate that water mostly runs past us doing little to no damage. But for the rest of Cabo, especially in the Colonias (colonies), things are in a State of Emergency. They are saying that Tropical Storm Lidia dumped more water than Hurricane Odile on Sept 10, 2014. I have been in contact with several of those that our group has assisted since we started, such as Maggy Sanchez, and America Cortez Torres. They have all taken in others from their areas that were in need of safe, dry shelter during the Storm. Just a comforting thought that without Your Help they would not have these places to offer to others. Others in the Colonias were very wet, homes ruined, possessions were lost, many are still without the things they need to survive on a daily basis. Flash floods tore through the areas causing damage, and death to things in its path. They spoke of dead bodies in the areas. This is life here for so many in Cabo. The people behind the scenes of this popular tourist area, are the ones living in these poor, low lying areas, in very simple homes made often of wood scraps, tarps, anything they can find. They work very hard to support their families, and to provide any kind of shelter possible to call home. These homes are not able to withstand the strength of the storms that they get here. Many people have said to me... "Sam you can't save everyone." My response is always that they are right, "But I can help some!" As posted in a recent message, the projects that we have been involved with were homes that provided shelter to others in the area. Maggy hosted a family in her home, and America hosted 3 families in her kitchen. The work we do as a team, is so important, and still very much needed In this area. Especially after storms like Lidia, that hit us Aug 30-31. I'd like for us to pull together as a team, and try to once again work together with our family and friends to raise money to help provide more safe places for people to go when needed. Whether it be a block home, or a community gathering place, I'd like for us to make this happen. I know our goals seem high, but together we have accomplished each and every one. So I know We can do this. I have opened this new GoFundMe page so we can continue to help others in desperate need. . We Love and Appreciate All of You. Thank you for your Beautiful Hearts and the Love and
support you show to me, and my passion for helping people here in Cabo. Please Continue to follow our Group on Facebook for fundraising events, challenges and activities. Pray for CABO! Our Wish for this project, is to be able to raise enough funds to purchase all labor and materials, to build a decent size 2 story building, which would be added to the community center already in progress, in the care of America CortezTorres. This community shelter could house many families in need of safety during the storms. Building plans will be made and posted on this page and also our Facebook page. As with our other recent projects, we will do the building in stages. Once some funds are collected, and it is time for us to visit Our home again, we will travel to Cabo, purchase the material as per the stage we are at, and ensure the work is being done. We feel that it is more safe for us to purchase materials on our own than to send a lump sum of cash to Mexico. This has worked for all of our projects. It gets the work done, on a monitored schedule, there is no risk of lost or misused funds, and no misunderstanding with material purchases. BUILDING WITH LOVE". Please Continue to Help and Support Our Cause. Thank You!
