Hurricane Maria - Puerto Rico

The direct hit by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico has left many without food, water and shelter. The relief efforts have been overwhelming but given the logistical difficulties on the ground, the help is not reaching everyone. One of the areas we have identified as needing more help, are those communities deep in the mountainous regions that are out of reach because the roads are severely damage or inexistent and helicopters are unable to land. We have a group of volunteers willing and able to reach those areas and provide help. This help needs to be strategic and sustainable as to provide a more long-lasting solution, if not long term. We have decided to raise funds in order to send as many tarps, ropes, water filters and materials as we can, so that these volunteers can create dry areas, and drinking water oasis in these communities. All funds collected will be used in materials to accomplish these two basic goals: provide better shelter and set up water oasis in these hard to reach communities. We have the logistic to transport the materials to PR and a group of volunteers ready to reach and assist these folks. We are planning on having enough funds to send our first shipment on the first week of November.  The cost of 1 tarp, with all necessary materials to install it is about $25. A filtration system to generate a minimum of 2,000 gallons of water is about $50. If you would like to donate materials directly, contact us and we'll make the proper arrangements.
