As hard as this is to make this, it's for mine and my 3 sisters dad's cremation, medical expenses and ceremony.

December 6th, 2019 I received an early morning phone call that my dad was in the hospital and they were unsure of how serious it was.
Upon arriving I learned that his body had gone sepsis— his body was infected from head to toe. As well as two masses on two separate heart valves, which is most often caused from IV drug use.
As the days wen on, we talked about treatment for after the infection was gone, both for physical health as well as drug treatment. It was was going to be a long recovery road ahead.
He was ready for his second chance at life.
He knew that his 5 years of drug use had finally caught up to him and he was ready to fight his addiction with all that he had. We had gathered resources and talked about what a new life drug free would entail.
Behind the scenes the doctors were working progressively to give us a full diagnosis as to why his body was rejecting the antibiotics and why his neck and head were in a steady “8/10” pain scale.
After receiving his MRI results we soon learned that he had an abscess that has spread from his neck to half way down his spine. Every doctor on his case said “we didn’t see this coming”, we all assumed we were only dealing with sepsis infection from a heart valve gone bad from a drug addiction.
At first we were given the option to choose between letting it be or take the risk of surgery and removing his abscess, giving him a better chance at life.
Not even seconds after he said yes to the surgery, his blood pressure dropped, causing him to become a non-candidate for surgery and we were given 24-48 hrs left of his life.

Our father passed away on December 15, 2019, giving us 13 extra heart wrenching hours with him as we watched his life slowly slip away before our eyes.

His 4 kids have been left with the expenses of his care in the hospital as well as the after life expenses. We are asking for a little compassion for a family who has been affected by the darkest demon of them all: addiction.
