Shady Oaks RV Park, Rockport Rebuild

Donation protected

Hurricane Harvey has taken so much from so many, including my mom and my stepdad, Diane and Lenny Gelzaines. They bought Shady Oaks RV park in Rockport, TX 15 years ago and turned it from a small RV park with the basic amenities and sites to an amazing park that so many people love to call their home or vacation home. Almost every year they took what profit they had and put it back into the park - from constantly adding new sites (100), new cabins (11), updating the rec hall, new pool, black topping all the roads, creating fun activities for the winter Texans, etc etc. They were constantly thriving to make Shady Oaks a better place.

Shady Oaks is home to Diane and Lenny, my step brother Danny and his wife Becky, and once was to my little brother TJ (who went to Rockport High School) and myself. They also have hundreds of tenants including permanent residents, weekenders and winter Texans, all who have come to call Shady Oaks their home.

Mom and dad's house is ruined, as well as a number of other permanent residents and vacationers who had left their RVs down in Rockport...and much of the park is in shambles - the good thing is that the rec hall seems to be standing and we have had such an amazing outpour from people who want to help. It's just extremely hard on the family when there is no income coming in and all the expenses still need to be paid, including the mortgage. While we have applied for FEMA for help with their home and other business loans, everything takes time and we need to get Shady Oaks up and running again as soon as possible.

All of the donated funds will go directly into the rebuild of the park. Whether it be to pay for the removal of the massive amounts of debris and downed trees, the reconstruction of the cabins, repairing the rec hall, paying the bills, or simply to buy food and water for the volunteers. We will make sure that we bring Shady Oaks back to where it was before the storm so all of the Shady Oaks' family can once again enjoy their little slice of paradise.

Diane is one of the most generous people I know, running two sober living homes up in Illinois, it has always been her mission to help others, it's now our turn to help her. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and just hope we can raise the money to rebuild.  A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone wanting to help, we will soon be making a Facebook page to coordinate the volunteer efforts to help clean up. Thank you for everyone who donates!!

For the admins on this site: My name is Jory Kingston and Diane and Lenny are my parents. The money will go directly to all those involved with the help of the clean up via myself, my parents or my brothers.

Below are some pictures from people who have been able to get down there. Here is also a link to many more pics. https://photos.app.goo.gl/RpfYkIGMBs6LwYn92
