GD DI Champs go to Globals in TN!

Donation protected
For the second year in a row, Destination Imagination® (DI) teams from Groton-Dunstable have earned the chance to compete in the DI Global Finals tournament in Knoxville, TN in May.

But they need your help to get there!

Meet the Seven Singing Smart Sweet Silly Sassy Supergirls (aka the Seven S’s)–Alyssa, Amelia, Anna, Meredith, Nithila, Prachi, and Tayja.  This group of sensational young women–all seventh graders–attend Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School and Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School.  They worked for five months, after school and on weekends, to master this year’s DI Fine Arts Challenge, called Change of Tune. This challenge required them to create a two-act musical, complete with a technical scene change, a spectacle, and a change of plans.  The Seven S’s wrote, composed music and lyrics, choreographed, and performed a musical about time travel from a grey, mechanical future to the vibrant, colorful late ‘60s.

We are asking the Groton-Dunstable community, friends and family for donations to help send this special team to University of Tennessee in Knoxville for the Destination Imagination Global Finals on May 23-26, 2018.

The cost for the team and manager to attend the tournament is over $7,500.

This cost covers their entry fee, housing and meals.  At Global Finals, the team will compete with teams from around the world, and will have an opportunity to attend workshops and activities focused on developing 21st century skills.  It is truly an amazing experience and opportunity!

What is Destination Imagination?
Destination Imagination’s mission is to develop opportunities that inspire the global community of learners to utilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity. The Destination Imagination program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. Teams may showcase their solutions at a tournament.
