To Belize to Serve

Each year the University of Indianapolis's College of Health Sciences offer a trip for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy students to go to Belize to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy services to individuals who are in need of therapy. These individuals would not otherwise have access to Physical therapy or Occupational therapy as there are relatively no therapists of this sort in Belize. 

I am a first year student in the Doctor of Physical therapy program at the University of Indianapolis. 
I plan to go to Belize in order to be of service to these individuals who are in need of physical therapy. It has been a dream of mine to study abroad and to do medical mission work. This service learning trip would be an amazing opportunity for me to provide service and to learn while practicing physical therapy under the supervision of Physical therapists who will accompany us. I will be working with children at an agency called the Inspiration Center for birth to school aged children
as well as with older patients at an agency called Sr. Cecelia's Home in Belize.
The trip will be a 15 day trip from July 25th to August 9th.
