Serah's Rites of Passage Journey!

This is my twin, my mirror, my reflection, my heart! Raising this young lady has been one of the most challenging, yet heart wrenching experience I've every gone through in life. There has been times where I've been over joyed with pride and other times where I've been riddled with disappointment, but I continued push forward and try to make the best choices for her future.
As many of you may know Serah is turning 16 this summer and she has been giving me a run for my mothering money. We WERE planning an extravagant "my super sweet 16" type of event for the big day, but due to some bad choices she has made this year she has lost that privilege. Alternatively, I have decided to send her on a RIGHTS OF PASSAGE JOURNEY, called SOLO CROSSING, from July 23-August 12, where she will back pack through the national forest of Olympia, Washington, and learn some valuable life skills. "The Solo crossing program is a chance for teens to imagine how they want to be as adults, and then explore and practice what this means to them and their families, friends and communities...Mid-program, the youth embark on a solo vigil when they leave the group setting to be fully in their own company. Guided by nature and personal quiet, they contemplate letting go of their life as a child and looking forward to living courageously as an adult.
Serah will greatly benefit from this program and I believe emerge a changed person. We have lost sight of rights of passage rituals in this culture but in our indigenous cultures our young people went through different rights of passage rituals which involved leaving home and participating in a difficult challenge then reentering the family a transformed person. Unfortunately in this western culture everything is about money so this journey is going to cost a lot of money, $$$$. That's where you come in. The tuition for the program alone is $2800. We were fortunate enough to get a scholarship Thats covering 75% of tuition. But the flight for me and Serah round trip to Washington alone is going to cost about $1200, then I have to drop her off and pick her up so that's going to be another $600 in air fare. We still have to cover hotel, food and backpacking equipment. So this trip will cost me a small fortune, and as you all know it takes a village. So I am reaching out to my village for help.
Please give what ever you can. Every little bit counts. I am paying $200 today to hold her spot and I have to have the remainder of the 25% of tuition paid by June 16. What ever you can give right up until she leaves on July 12 will be very helpful. Of course the faster I raised the money the better, because the sooner I get the flights 4th e cheaper they will be. What ever funds we have left over after we cover all her needs for the trip, I will use to throw her a small ceremony welcoming her back into her home and community. Thank you I. Advance for your help, you are truly making a difference in a young life.
