Inclusive Sensory Gym

Hi, my name is Kimberly Belzer and I am the owner of the soon to be opened cutting edge sensory gym, Sensory Towne that will provide an array of sensory based activites, classes, equipment, resources and educational opportunities for families of all children.  Sensory Towne will help refine children's ability to respond to sensory experiences, nurture and improve upon overall childhood development and social skills.

I started this gym out of my own personal experience and frustration of their not being many places I could take my own child where he could participate.  Standard play spaces were always equiped with all kinds of fun things he could not do or he did not want to do due to his senses being overloaded.  With there being no calming solutions in the mix without leaving the premises and retreating to my car or home, going out became difficult.  While working with special needs families I realized that they too were having the same frustrations.   Sensory Towne will strive to make the experience adaptive no matter of you are walking, scooting, rolling, in a wheelchair or running wild.    

I am currently raising money to cover some of the expensive equipment and build out of the gym that I we will need to provide services inclusive no matter the ability. For an example, an interactive LED Ball Pool.  The LED Interactive Ball Pool is great for developing cause and effect skills, color recognition, social interaction, and motor skills.  It offers of sense of calming when the child is overstimulated with light tactile stimulation.  This is just one piece of equipment I will be needing to accomplish making this gym sensory based and inclusive for all children.

I have personal and professional experience with working with children with all different types of needs including my very own sweetheart of a boy Brandon that has multiple special needs. (See photo above).

I am proud to be part of this community and even more excited to help bridge the gap between recreation, social skills and education for all children and families.
