Konnichiwa!! Hi everyone! My entire life, I've dreamed about becoming an exchange student. I want to teach English in Japan when I am older, or I want to be an international liaison. But, no matter what I do, I want to work towards making this world a more peaceful, kind, and understanding place. I love foreign languages and cultures with all my heart, and traveling to new places is truly my passion! I went to Tokyo, Japan in February of 2013 with the Blaine High School wind ensemble and I lived with a host family for 2 weeks. While I was there, I realized that Japan is the place for me. I love the culture, language, music, food, and most of all, the PEOPLE! I made many, many friends at the schools we visited, and I realized that I want to go to school there, too. I just can't stop thinking about it, Japan is always at the front of my mind! An exchange program called AFS (the largest one in the US!) is sending me to Japan to study for a year, leaving in March 2014. I've been working to raise spending money and tuition money for when I am in Japan, and the total cost of my exchange will probably be about $17,000. I've applied to all of the scholarships that are offered, too, but I just can't reach this goal on my own. I know that this is a once in a lifetime experience that will help me grow as a person and learn about the Japanese culture, and this is something that I know I need to do! If you can donate anything at all, it is much appreciated ♥ Arigatou!! Thank-you for giving the world to students like me.
