Send Eriverto to School!

Hi everyone! I've started this page to start raising money for Eriverto- a friend I made when I traveled to the Dominican Republic for the first time in 2011!
Eriverto is the oldest son of a Haitian family and has a younger sister with cerebral palsy. He lives in a batey with his mom and sister and is 13 years old. His mom babysits a girl with special needs and braids hair for a living by going down to the local beach- often with no success. Eriverto was part of our "Change My Stars" summer program where we spent time doing fun summer camp activities focused on teaching English. Eriverto is so happy and such a nice, sweet person that that year I decided to start paying for him to go to a private school.
As many of you could probably guess, the public schools in the DR are consistenly ranked as some of the worst in the world- and this can especially be the case for Haitian immigrants as they are often discrimiated against by the Hispanic DR community. The DR government often sets up barriers to keep Haitian children from going to school.
Eriverto now goes to a private school which costs me about $300 a year for his uniform/books/tuition/supplies etc. Unfortunately this school only went up to 7th or 8th grade and there is only one really good private high school in the area- which is upwards of $1,200 a year. It's a bilingual school with English classes in the morning and could really be the difference in what finds Eriverto a good job.
On June 25th Global Giving has a matching day where all funds starting at noon are matched 100% until funds run out. I was hoping to gather money in enough time so that at noon on the 25th I could submit all of it and have enough to send Eriverto to the bilingual school. Thank you so much for all of your support!
