My name is Sheridan. I have found asking for help very difficult but with the support and encouragement of my friends I am setting up this gofundmeaccount for my amazing son, Sebastian, who desperately needs your help.
Sebastian is an amazing little boy with a ready smile and a love of animals and humans. He is a friend to all the world and loves reading, football and science.
Sebastian’s History
Since Sebastian was little (before the age on one) we realised that there was something not quite right about his physical development (he learned to walk at 2 and run at nearly 4 ) we started Early Intervention in Speech, Physio, and Occupational Therapy.
Some of the areas Sebastian has suffered in include, hearing, sight and speech problems, delayed fine and gross motor skills, sensory issues and face distortion due to enlarged adenoids.
I paid for all these investigations and treatments as a single working mum with no additional financial support and have seen amazing benefits.
Why we need help
Sebastian is 7 years old and Two years ago, doctors discovered a funnily shaped cyst in the back of his brain, which needs to be regularly monitored.
Lately, Sebastian has been having what look like seizures and these require extra medical intervention and research.
Sebastian has also started falling over a lot and claiming that he keeps falling asleep – on one occasion he was hospitalized for this. It breaks my heart to see my little boy like this – I am terrified by what’s happening to him and desperately need to find out what’s going on and fix it.
I’m a single Mum, working full time as a school teacher. I need to get a definitive diagnosis and establish an effective treatment plan.
I have tried everything in my financial power to do this and have taken advice from 3 neurologists; 2 developmental paediatricians; educational psychologists; speech, occupational and physical therapists; a counsellor; an art therapist; 2 Ear Nose and Throat specialists; allergists and school specialists and the overall consensus is that “He is a puzzle.”
As Sebastian's symptoms increase we need answers so that we are able to support him and get the medical help he needs.
How you can help
I will keep supporting my little boy but the costs of the upcoming tests are beyond me and it is with deep humility that I now need to ask for your help. Over Christmas, Sebastian and I flew to London and attended a £450 consultation with one a pediatric neurologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital. for which I have already paid.
Several specialists are being consulted and concluded that he should have a variety of tests done, including blood tests which are about £600, MRI scans about £8000, EEG ’s, and a 48Hr telemetry about £9000 possible surgery and so on.
Although the medical costs are beyond my reach, I am determined to get my little boy the help he needs. Please help. I am terrified that Sebastian won’t get the necessary treatment in time and really need your help. I am grateful for every penny, so even if you can only give a small amount or share a link to this page, please find it in your heart to help us.
His first appointments have been arranged for the Last week in February 2018.
