Scott's Stroke Recovery

Scott Kovalik suffered a stroke on August 29th, 2017. According to neurologists, the stroke appears to have been caused by a small tear in his carotid artery. This tear appears to have been caused by some medical treatment Scott received to deal with pain in his back and neck. The tear clotted and this clot caused a stroke 2 days later, while the family was on vacation in Vancouver, WA.
His 4 children and wife were suddenly facing a very different reality. Post-stroke, life's logistics became overwhelming. Suddenly, Scott's wife, Mitzi, was dealing with a husband in the hospital who needed her and 4 children three hours away in their Seattle home who also needed her. Mounting medical bills, Scott's sudden inability to work and Mitzi's decreased salary due to her new caregiving responsibilities have created a situation that appears to have no solution.
With their income drastically decreased, the basic bills are not covered. Housing, utilities and food have become luxuries since the stroke. The goal of $10,000 will assist the Kovaliks in making it through the months needed to get Scott rehabilitated and back to work.
The house is still filled with laughter. The 4 kids and Scott have not lost their sense of humor and they find a way to work the stroke and its debilitating effects into their daily comedy routines. Finding a way to laugh as we struggle through this together makes the end goal achievable. This time has simply strengthened our bonds with each other and shown how important relationships are, above anything else.
We thank God every day that Scott has come so far. We pray constantly for help and courage to finish the journey that is before us.
