Who is Scott Landauer?

Scott Landauer is a 39 year old father of five beautiful daughters and  husband, to Mary  Landauer.  Scott suffered an attack of acute pancreatitis on Jan. 20, 2009.  At that time, Scott and Mary had just celebrated 18 years of marriage and their daughters:  Morgan 17, Jacki 15, Michelle 13, Shannon 5 and Robyn 2.  Scott suffered from multi-organ failure and spent a month, on life support, in a coma, 46 days in ICU, and almost 8 weeks total, in hospitals.  Since, then Scott has been seen by Baylor College of Medicine, The Elkins Pancreas Center (BCM), The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and The Methodist Hospital, Liver and Kidney Transplantation Center.  After more than 50 surgeries (yes, fifty), and 4 thousand images, that have been looked at in the past 20 months, this is where we stand.  We will celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary next month, Morgan 20, Jacki 18 (Texas A&M U Fish - Whoop!), Michelle 15 (James E. Taylor HS sophomore), Shannon 7 (NCE 2nd grader) and Robyn 4.  Scott needs a multivisceral (multi-organ) transplant.  We are visiting UPMC in Pittsburgh Nov. 7th for two weeks of rigorous testing (as if he hasn\'t already had enough), in order to be accepted into the transplant program.  This is a transplant center that handles, thousands of organ transplants a year.  Scott will need 5 organs (liver, pancreas, spleen, stomach and small intestine).  The multivisceral transplants are rare, about 100 a year.  The wait time is multiplied because, all the donor organs have to be perfect.  The recovery time is, on average, a year due to required follow-up, more if their are complications. We need the community\'s help.  We have been blessed with gifts of finance, groceries, cookies, casseroles, flowers, cards and prayers from family, friends (who are family) and strangers (also family) over the past, 3 years.  Your continued support and anyone you can share this site with, will be greatly appreciated. Our family has been drained financially and we can not continue to pay for doctors, medications, surgeries, tests, travel, housing, groceries, etc. without your continued financial support.  We will keep you posted on the status of the transplant surgery. We cannot to begin to express our gratitude and love for each and everyone of you.  Mary Landauer

Special Thanks
So many people from around Katy, including from our church (Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church) have helped in so many ways. And we have felt the power of prayer from around the globe. We'd also like to thank the wonderful people at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, whose ministry is inspiring "” and who, through divine intervention, have touched Scott and Mary during some of the darkest times. They, and all of our friends and family, are truly sources of great light and hope for us.
