Scarlet The Service Dog

Hi, I am Evan and I was diagnosed with severe life threatening food allergies when I suffered my first anaphylactic event at the age of 2. I am allergic to lots of things including Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Eggs, Garlic, Onions & Soybeans. We have done a really good job controlling my allergies at home, but things are getting more and more difficult at public places; especially my school. You see, I don’t just have allergic reactions from eating the foods; I can have a reaction simply by coming into contact with someone else that has had them or by touching a surface that might be contaminated. Over the past few years I have spent many days in the Emergency Room getting IV steroids in order to get rid of my allergic reactions and unfortunately this means that I miss a lot of time in the classroom and even more time having fun with my friends. Recently, I applied for an Allergen Scent Service Dog from Noelle’s Dogs Four Hope and I was lucky enough to get approved in to the program. Currently, my Service Dog in Training, Scarlet is hard at work learning how to protect me and alert me to potentially dangerous situations.  This is where I need your help… We need to raise $5,000.00 to cover our portion of the training and certification of Scarlet. Having Scarlet by my side will allow me to do so many things that others get to do without even thinking. Imagine having to be worried every time you go on the playground because you don’t know if the person before you held on to the swing chain and contaminated it with left over peanut butter sandwich. With Scarlet she will check the playground for me before I play and alert me to any areas that may be contaminated. She will give me the ability to participate in play dates at friend’s house and fields trips without the constant worry of an allergic reaction.
