Scandinavian School Annual Campaign

Tax deductible

Everyone connected to the Scandinavian School San Francisco knows it's a very special place, providing an experience that is truly unique. Not only because we bring the best of Scandinavia and the United States together, serving children and adults from many backgrounds, dedicated to learning and continuing the culture and traditions of Scandinavia, but because there is nothing else like it in the Bay Area, and only a handful in the entire United States.

Lately, as our reputation and success has soared, we have continued to add new families, and offer more cultural programs than ever and, as a result, we are bursting at the seams. Our after school programs are overflowing.

Our amazing preschool and cultural programs are made possible mostly by our incredibly talented and dedicated teachers. We are therefore very excited to focus our Annual Campaign 2013-14 on further developing our amazing teachers.

Our goal this year is to raise funds for training in the following areas:

· Reggio Emilia
· Sustainability
· Literacy
· Art & music
· Special needs

Reggio Emilia Symposium: One week in Stockholm to attend the symposium in June. A full week of seminars and visits to preschools.

Art education training: Fund a teacher to attend art workshops and study visits to other preschools. We want to continue the growth of our own ateljé/art studio where exploration, inspiration, fun and learning take place.
$700

Equal Opportunity training: how can we work to make sure that everyone are given equal opportunities and that we do not discriminate anyone against race, gender, religion, age... We need to train our staff in how to prevent discrimination and to give them the knowledge on how to create a preschool where all are given equal opportunities.
$500

Early Literacy: How can we incorporate reading and literacy in everything we do? Emergent writing and literacy, phonemic and print awareness, vocabulary and concept development has all to do with successful readers and writers. Studies show that by incorporating early literacy in preschool, children are more likely to do well in all areas of education.
$500
