R.I.P Tyisha : Legacy Of An Angel

Donation protected
My beautiful sister, Tyisha Prescott, who was 30 yrs old and the mother of 4 gorgeous boys passed away on June 18, 2015 at 6pm after a devastating battle with Stage 4 Undifferentiated Cancer.

The previous funds of $9,450.00 were utilized for Tyisha's Funeral and Burial in Tampa, Florida on June 25, 2015, where much of our immediate family resides for the past 10 years and where Tyisha lived for 8 years of her adult life. We were not able to afford a funeral in New York or New Jersey as it costs on average almost $20,000.00. Yet many family and friends in the New York/New Jersey region were sad that they were unable to attend Tyisha's services due to financial limitations, distance, or not being able to take off work to fly out to Florida. As her brother, I want to honor my sister the way she deserved to be honored, with love, laughter and happiness. Our family needs help paying for Tyisha's Memorial Service to take place on September 6, 2015, what would have been Tyisha's 31st birthday. Please help us reach our goal of $13,000.00 as Gofundme takes 8 percent of the campaign funds as their service charge.

Funds Earned will be used for:

*Funeral & Burial in Tampa, Florida
*Memorial Service in New York/New Jersey
*Transportation costs to/from Funeral in Tampa, Florida
*Fulfill TYISHA'S  last wish to take her 4 Boys on their last family vacation

In January of this year Ty began a medical ordeal that would end in her death five months later. Multiple cat scans, sonograms, blood tests and biopsies proved inconclusive until an abdominal MRI picked up a mass between her spleen and her stomach. Her ovary was removed for further tests as was her Fallopian tube and a tumor from her peritoneum. A few weeks later she was finally diagnosed with Stage 4 aggressive Undifferentiated Cancer located in her peritoneum.

By the time the diagnosis was rendered and the doctors were able to treat her, it was too late. The tumors covered her peritoneum and surrounded every major organ in her abdomen. Her doctors recommended chemotherapy and possible abdominal surgery to remove some of the tumors but by then Ty had become too frail for surgery. The only excruciating pain and digestive issues she felt day in and day out due to the growing tumors and constant but necessary consumption of pain killers prevented her from eating properly.

Her first double dose of chemotherapy left her with no desire to eat for nearly a week and her weight dropped down to 79 lbs. On June 8th her 2nd double dose of chemotherapy was even more detrimental and Ty deteriorated even further and much more rapidly.

After trying to be hopeful and optimistic that chemotherapy would help cure my sister, on June 12th we received news that her oncologist was recommending hospice as he felt the chemotherapy was doing more harm than good but she never made it there. On June 15th she needed a breathing tube, a few days later on June 18th at 6pm she passed bells across the street played Amazing Grace and we knew she was finally at peace. There is no more pain and suffering for Ty and for that we are grateful. No one, no one deserves to die this way.

If you knew Ty, you knew she had an endearing personality, an infectious laugh, a heart of gold and the ability to make you laugh until your stomach hurt. If you were in need she would give you the shirt off her back if it helped. Her main goal in life was to be a good mother and provider to her 4 precious baby boys and she spent the last year and a half of her life trying to accomplish that goal. She never stopped...not once. Her life touched every single person who knew her in the best way possible. Our hearts are broken and it will take the rest of our lives to fill the void her death has left behind but fill it we must because that's what she would've wanted. I can't tell you how many times in those last few days of her life she told us not to cry because she was going to be ok...well, we want to believe she's ok now because she is no longer suffering. Your help is appreciated.
