Cambodia Outreach October 2013

Donation protected
In the book of Matthew, it says if you feed the hungry, clothe the naked and care for the sick, it's as if your doing those things for the Lord.

We are heading out on our 3rd mission to Siem Reap, Cambodia in October. All donations will be used to meet the needs of underprivileged children and families in rural villages and will not cover our travel expenses. Because of baggage restrictions we will be purchasing most of the items we will donate in Cambodia. This is cost effective for us and stimulates their economy by purchasing from local vendors. We will be providing students with school uniforms, shoes, and a variety of school supplies such as pens, pencils, erasers, paper, scissors, rulers etc. ABOUTAsia Schools will be again be assisting us with coordinating distribution of items at the schools. School uniforms will be purchased from local NGO, Life and Hope Association. This is an education focused organization doing great things in the community. The school uniforms are made by girls or young woman who are enrolled in Life and Hope's sewing school. Upon graduation they are given their own sewing machine and are able to pursue their career.

In addition to serving in the school setting, we will be heading in to the villages and donating food, clothing, shoes toothbrushes and other items to families in need. It is my hope to form an ongoing relationship with a Christian church in Siem Reap, in order to not only meet the physical needs of the local population, but support the spiritual as well.

Education is the key to hope for the future. In the USA children have the opportunity to attend school. In Cambodia, education is a luxury. Many families are unable to send there children to school, either because of the expense of school itself or the loss of a laborer in the fields. In 2012, the legal minimum wage of a factory worker in Cambodia was $45 per MONTH! That's not enough to feed a family. Filled with despair, some choose to give their children up to orphanages or worse, sell them to human traffickers. It is our hope to impact the lives of families in rural Siem Reap communities by meeting basic needs and providing supplies needed to educate the children and give hope for the future.
If you would like more information, to see photos from our last trip or to join us on our next mission, please send me a message including your email address.

No donation is to large or to small. School uniforms range from $5-$7 and shoes $1-$3. Every dollar counts!

For those of you in Kona that would like to contribute but are unable to make a monetary donation, we will once again be planning a yard sale to raise funds. If you clean out the cabinets or closets we'd be happy to have your donation of household items to sell at the fundraising yard sale. Follow me on Facebook for updates.

Also, I still have lots of coconut shell belts, bracelets, rings, earrings, scarves and bags brought back from Cambodia (or Thailand) and sold in an effort to raise funds.

Offline donations are also welcome. Please feel free to message me for further contact information.

Please feel free to share this post by email, Facebook or print with your friends, family and churches.

Blessed to be God's servant.
