Sweet Buju's Surgery Fund

Buju and Sensi came into my life as rescues after their former owner could no longer keep them and had them listed on Craigslist. Lucky for Buju and Sensi, a Las Vegas pit bull rescue, Incred-A-Bull was aware of the dangers pit bulls face in the wrong owners hands (something even I didn't know back then) and intervened on the dog's behalf. They encouraged the owners to remove the ad from Craigslist and assisted in the search to find Buju and Sensi a safe new home.


Two weeks into their efforts, I contacted the owner to find out Buju and Sensi still had not found a home. The administrator of the rescue had made the former owner promise she would not drop them off at a shelter, but when I heard her say she had even considered leaving the dogs in a vacant yard next to her mother's house if she couldn't figure out anything else during the next two days, I knew something had to be done. I agreed to take the dogs into my home as Foster dogs, so Buju and Sensi would at least have a fighting chance at finding a good home.


When Buju and Sensi arrived to my home, they were diagnosed a number of problems that needed immediate care, including Demodex, ear infections, and severe allergies resulting from a poor diet. Getting these two into better health has required a lot of my time, research, and commitment, but they have been well worth every sacrifice, and we have come so far in such a short time!



Since making my commitment to getting the dogs into better health, Buju was diagnosed with an ACL (cruciate ligament tear).
After viewing x-rays we discovered Buju's knee and ligaments had totally blown out with the progression of the injury. This is very common with a cruciate tear --it starts out as an almost invisible injury to most breeds, or an occasional slight limp, but the injury progresses with time and activity, often to the point of extreme pain and the immobility of that leg. After vet ordered rest and limited activity, Buju's injury did not heal, which means surgery is Buju's only option to be able to live his life with comfort and freedom he deserves. At this point, my financial resources have been exhausted getting Buju and Sensi to this point of health, so now we are hoping to raise enough for Buju's last and final leg,
TPLO surgery,
every little bit counts!!


TPLO surgery, is the recommended surgery for a dog of his size and stature, where the less expensive Fishing line surgery is not an option.
Buju struggles daily with limited movement and pain, and the longer surgery is put off, the more atrophy and the less successful his recovery will be, and the more we risk the chance that Buju will injure his other limb, so time is of the essence here.

With the surgery, Buju will gain 90% total ability back with his leg and be able to walk and dance like the happy pit bull he is again! For anyone who would prefer to donate directly to VMSG, we can arrange that too.
