You might be as surprised as I was to learn that Steph had to pay out $14,000 for her recent cancer treatment! Steph's family needed to borrow the money to pay for her non-PBS covered treatment.
A little bit of history about Steph
In 2008 Steph was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer after finding a lump in her breast. This was followed by 18 months of aggressive cancer treatment which included surgery, chemo, radiation and herceptin. Being off work for 14 months this time not only came at an emotional cost cost but also a massive financial burden of her family.
Following this initial treatment Steph was considered cancer free for almost 5 years.
22 days short of 5 years Steph noticed she was becoming short of breath and tired. It was then, on November 20th 2013 she was rediagnosed with secondary's to her lungs, liver and bones.
Without delay or financial consideration Steph began the journey again of chemotherapy for the rest of her life! It was something that her and her family had to do - there was no choice! She needed to buy time to spend with her family - her two young boys and her husband. Precious time that we all take for granted and is priceless. There is no price on time!
But there was a cost! Financially Steph and her family needed to borrow the money to pay for the treatment. Steph has continued to work throughout her treatment. Caring for women, babies and families at a time when she herself needed all the care in the world!
We ask you to open your hearts and your pockets and donate to this beautiful lady and her family so she can repay the financial cost of her ongoing treatment. A cost that continues everytime she has the treatment.
