Help Save Sandovan Restaurant and Lounge

After 7 years of proudly serving the Petworth community of the Northwest quadrant of the District of Columbia, we have found ourselves in need of assistance to make it through to Year 8.  Covid-19 has affected all of us in so many different profound ways. Moreover, we have had to fundamentally change our entire business model from a fine dining, bar, nightclub/lounge experience into a take out and delivery only model; which, has seen a 75% dip in total revenue. It goes without saying that this has substantially impacted our ability to ensure our staff, which consists of 1st generation Caribbean immigrants, will continue to have the opportunity to continue to live and work in this country during these uncertain times. It has also impacted our ability to continue to serve our predominately black, lower income community that has such few restaurant options to begin with, let alone those that can boast of being Black-owned and Family operated.

It has been such an incredible journey becoming the top rated Jamaican restaurant in the District. We are proud to be apart of a long lineage of landmark Caribbean restaurants that have established an important legacy of both traditional and forward-thinking recipes which have propelled Jamaican cuisine into a premiere fine dining experience within the District of Columbia. We hope that with a little boost to help us stay afloat during the historically tough winter months that we can continue on our path long enough to be able to revert back to our original business model at the point it will be safe enough to do so and continue to also be the go-to venue for special events. Over the years we've been fortunate enough to host milestone moments and events for various members of our community including: birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, concerts, political campaign events, retirement parties, business meetings, comedy shows, poetry slams, food, food/coat/toy drives, Repasts and countless other types of celebrations/events.  With your help, we hope to continue to be a Black-owned business our community and those around the greater Metropolitan area are proud to frequent. Before we go, we want to make sure you all know that every penny counts. There's not a donation that anyone could provide that we would not be immensely grateful for. We hope you all remain safe during the pandemic. And from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your consideration.

Love + Gratitude,

Sandra + Donovan
