Rosie's Medical Fund

One month ago Rosie found her way into our lives after years of neglect and abuse by the hands of her previous owners. She was discovered wandering the streets with a shattered and mangled leg as a result of being hit by a vehicle. Sadly her previous owners did not wish to put time or money into her recovery which left the rescue who found her with amputation as an only option.

Despite all her pain and suffering, Rosie maintained her sweet disposition, which caught the eye of a local organization looking for rescue dogs to participate in a therapy dog training program with high risk youth.

She participated in this program during her amputation recovery and began opening up to the youth and staff members, showing them love and trust. She quickly became a favorite in the program, as she was/is adored by many. Sadly due to Rosie’s history of abuse, this busy environment was too much stimulation for her and often isolated herself.  This is where our journey together began.

Due to Rosie being unable to partake in the program they contacted various individuals who may be interested in adopting her and giving her emotional support and love. This is where I come in.

After having Rosie for a week I noticed she had labored breathing issues, and would cough periodically.  Recently I discovered Rosie still has critical injuries that were overlooked during her amputation assessment and operation (nearly 2.5 months ago). After a series of tests scans and x-rays, it was discovered that Rosie has a diaphragmatic hernia, meaning the abdominal organs (stomach, liver, intestine etc.) has moved into her abnormal opening in the diaphragm, the sheet of muscle separating he abdomen from the rib cage area. Rosie needs immediate corrective surgery to put her organs back in place otherwise she risks organ failure which will result in death.

Her medical treatments are approximately $6,500 and counting.  I have currently maxed out my credit cards with her emergency overnight stay and all the testing conducted to find her diagnosis. In order for her to survive she must have immediate surgery. She will have a long road of recovery ahead of her.

Rosie is an amazing dog and valued member of our family; she is so loving and accepting of all animals, children and adults alike. Despite all that she’s been through, she has continued to live her life to the fullest as she enjoying meeting new people, camping, playing fetch at the beach, and most of all…cuddles.

In many ways Rosie’s life is just beginning and with your donations, she can finally live a pain free life she truly deserves.
