Saving Mali Casco-Swan!!!

Donation protected
Hi y'all! My name is Mali!

Many of y'all know me from our time at UT in Austin, Texas!!! Whether we've met at a pregame, party, Sixth, Rainey, or at Zilker I'm sure we got along great because I love everyone I meet!!

(This is me at SXSW 2017 at a Hikes concert. I made SO MANY friends!!! This is before my symptoms started.)

If we haven't met, here's a little bit about myself.
I love everything about Austin, I love to hike at the Greenbelt and swim at Lake Travis. Most of all, I'm obsessed with fetch! BALL=LIFE!!! I'm an Australian Shepherd mix, so I love learning new tricks and staying busy! I know how to sit, lay, stay, wait, shake, and high-five!! I'm also obsessed with cats!

(My friend Don Juan and I just horsin' around)

On my birthday, July 31st, I turned 4 years old! I'm sure I got a lot of happy birthday text, but I lost my phone while swimming at Lake Travis so don't feel bad if you forgot. Nonetheless, I'm so happy that I've been able to make it to my middle age years!

(Now that I'm sick I can't swim anymore, but hopefully I can get back soon)

Unfortunately, this birthday was a little different than my past birthdays. I celebrated my birthday with a vet specialist in Round Rock, Texas. You see, lately, I haven't been able to properly eat my delicious kibble. If I take a bite of my food, I start to choke, I can hardly breathe, and then I start to vomit food I did manage to keep down. It's really exhausting being hungry all the time.

(This is me on July 31st, 2017! Celebrating my 4th birthday at Central Texas Veterinary Hospital)

Thankfully, my parents, Kevin & Addis, are very patient with me. They feed me one kibble at a time and try their best to feed me at least 2 cups a day. Although I've lost a considerable amount of weight, I'm super grateful because it takes hours out of their day to feed me.

(This is my dad feeding me one piece of kibble at a time. Doesn't he look so happy? Oh! And I have to stand like this while I eat so gravity will help me eat!)

Kevin & Addis have also taken me to several vet offices since my symptoms started in March 2017. So far I've gotten five veterinary's opinion! After several different tests, they've concluded I either have a brain tumor or an immunological disease. Fortunately, BOTH can be TREATABLE!!

Our next step is to get an MRI. Once we have the MRI images, my vet can either operate and remove the tumor or rule out the brain tumor and treat me for my immunological disease. However, because my illness is now considered a pre-existing condition, I don't qualify for pet insurance (I really have to talk to our local politicians about this.)

My parents never expected my condition to be as serious as it turned out to be and they definitely don't want me to go to sleep if there's a very good chance I can beat this!

I just want to make it to my 5th birthday and I'm hoping y'all can help me get there!

So for my 4th birthday, I'm asking my friends and family to donate whatever you can to my gofundme page. The funds raised will go directly to my vet bills, and can save my life!

All donations are appreciated, and I promise to send y'all a cute thank you card!!!
