Save Buddha the Frenchie

Buddha stopped dead in his tracks, looked up at us with his massive eyes and began shaking uncontrollably, foaming at the mouth.  We knew right away that something was seriously wrong. But we never thought this would be the beginning of the end.

When we brought Buddha home with us for the first time 6 years ago, he looked like a little alien – all pointy ears and doe-eyes.  We fell instantly in love with him and since then he’s gone everywhere with us. Until just recently when he had his first seizure – with 13 more the next day  -  and spent the better part of two weeks in the hospital with doctors trying to figure out what was going on.

What we ultimately found out was that Buddha has a brain tumor. A brain tumor growing right in front of our eyes. And this will take him from us very soon, in a few months’ time (which is almost impossible to grasp), if we don’t do something about it.


We knew when we adopted Buddha that we’d outlive him.  But we didn't know we'd lose him so young. We also didn't know we'd have a son, Hank.  A son who would be absolutely enamored with his fur-brother.  At 7 months, Hank is reaching out to pet Buddha and smiling uncontrollably when he gives him kisses. Buddha not being around much longer breaks our hearts. Not only for us, but for Hank who won't even have the chance to remember Buddha. 


We can keep Buddha alive for several years, if not more, if he undergoes radiation treatment – but there’s a hefty cost to this.   And although we have pet insurance, cancer treatment of this magnitude isn’t covered.

We have spent more than we can afford thus far, and will end up spending more. And as much as it breaks our heart we simply don’t have the money to cover further treatment.
