Many of you have asked the family how you can help and what you can give Sarah as she approaches her 40th birthday on August 3rd, so here is an opportunity.
As most of you know, Sarah Fernandez Mendoza has been battling cancer for almost 6 years. She has received treatment for 5 1/2 years at UM Sylvester Cancer, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and has had numerous consults around the country including MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The cancer has been very aggressive, unresponsive to conventional treatments and difficult to control since it metastasized.
Sarah is UNBELIEVABLY strong and a determined woman with a relentless WILL to keep fighting. She has a beautiful family including her husband and two small children, Sergio 5, and Anaïs 2, to live for and she is not giving up.
Sarah is looking at doing some additional alternative treatments, one in Chile this October and another one in Florida, even France. Her friends have joined together trying to raise funds for her to concentrate on healing and have another avenue of Hope. Many of her family members have already made financial contributions for this, but it is expensive and we need the collective help from our community, family and friends to reach our goal.
Additionally, and closer to everyday life struggles, one of the side effects of the cancer is that Sarah is often physically unable to help herself or with the house and kids, and they rely on someone to help their family and will need a full time nurse immediately. This is a necessity that they cannot live without and an unfortunate added expense as a result of the physical toll the disease is taking on her.
We have set up a go fund me account to take contributions to help support Sarah and her family for the new treatments. Please consider making a contribution and giving her the gift of support, comfort, love, and more importantly, HOPE!
