Over the last 10 years I have been fighting Breast Cancer. I had beat my cancer and removed all traces of it. Then, In 2013, my cancer became metastic and spread to my lungs. My doctors have been watching me closely and caught the spread before it became anything overly serious.  I started my second treatment of Chemo at this time, we got rid of the majority of the spread of small tumors but there were very small ones still remaining. Over the last 4 years my doctors and I have been fighting off this spread of cancer before it becomes worse.
More recently these small tumors and my tumor markers have grown marginally. My oncologist and I have been trying to lower my tumor marker and reduce the small spots that had spread to my lungs. I had been on an oral chemo for the past year and that hasn’t had the results that the doctor wanted to see at my last appointment. So I am getting a port put back in (a second time) and starting on the 17th I will begin chemo again.
My oncologist is very serious in emphasizing that there is no urgent threat from the spots in my lungs or my tumor marker numbers. He wants to be proactive and get my numbers down low and get these spots outta there, so that I can get back to a hormonal therapy for the rest of my (long) life.
I will be back to the chemo I was on in 2013, the reason he wants to do this chemo again is because my numbers reacted very well on it back then. He consulted with other doctors and believes this is the best option to get the numbers down and get rid of these spots.
The chemo process will be a once a week treatment for three weeks and a week off. I do not know how long we will be doing this treatment plan. What we’ve been doing for the past year is closely monitoring my numbers and the spots and looking for changes and then determining wether to continue current treatment or trying something else, so I assume this will be the doctors procedure going forward.

Over the 10 years of my multiple treatments and follow ups, I am still paying off medical bills. With this new course of treatment that means more medical bills and more medical debt.
