Sarah Hayes/Peiffer

As many of you know, Sarah was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer last fall. After undergoing debilitating chemotherapy and radiation treatments, as well as a radically altering her diet, Sarah received encouraging news that the treatments had worked, and the cancer had been beaten. However, a few short months later, Sarah and Vern received the devastating news that the cancer had returned, and metastasized to her liver. After much research, and difficult decision-making, Sarah and Vern weighed their options and have decided to pursue a treatment that combines traditional and alternative methods. (Surgery is not an option, and she has received a lifetime allotment of radiation. Chemo offers a 3% survival rate at the 5-year mark.)
Sarah has since visited the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, a clinic in Sedona, AZ, and is now receiving treatment at the Angeles Hospital in Tia Juana, Mexico. As you can imagine, this has been not only an emotionally arduous journey, but has taken a huge toll on the family's finances. We are humbly asking for help. Sarah and Vern are our lifelong friends. And while time has spread us apart, please remember the close-knit community from which we all come. How many of us have skated at the rink in Victor, enjoyed one of Rosemary's pizzas, or been a most welcomed guest of the Peiffer's- be it at the Elk's Club, Bison, or their home?
As Sarah fights for her life, and Vern fights for a life with Sarah, please help to ease their financial burden. Nobody knows what will happen next, but with your help, financial constraints won't be an issue. Please consider that anything will help.
