Let’s rebuild Sar & Michael’s home

Donation protected
I am raising money for my sister, Intisar (Sar) and her Marine family station at Camp Lejuene in Jacksonville, NC. Their house flooded during Hurricane Florence and they don’t have flood insurance. Their house took on close to 4 feet of water and it was not in a flood zone and it has never flooded in there neighborhood before. We first discovered their house was flooded when we saw it on TV. Their neighbor was riding down their street on a boat with news camera men rescuing dogs and cats. They were devastated. The thought of returning to the tragedy and cleanup with two young kids was so daunting that they decided it was best to send their two young children to Texas to stay with family so they could rebuild.

She finally got access to her house today and everything is ruined. When she walks in the living room you can see the carpet is filled with water as it puddles up around her shoes. The couches are molding over. The tile cracks when you step on it because subfloor is too soft. Their washer, dryer and deep freezer were located in a room in the garage and they toppled over from being carried in the flooding waters. All of her children’s clothes, shoes, books and toys are wet and moldy. The floors, sheetrock, furniture, and clothes all have to be replaced. They also lost their second car because they didn’t want to evacuate separately in such bad weather with their small children and they never dreamed it would flood there. They lost everything they own.

Any amount you can spare helps and is greatly appreciated! And please help us share their GoFundMe page!

My sister is a teacher and her husband is a Marine which is why they are stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Their two children are staying with me in Texas while they rebuild their home. They have a 5 year old girl who I just signed up for kindergarten in Colleyville so she doesn’t get too far behind in school. They also have a 2 year old boy who has never been without his mom so it’s been very hard for him. They miss their parents so much and ask for them everyday and it’s very hard to explain why they can’t be with them without upsetting them. My sisters family is basically homeless. They have a mortgage on the house and have put all their money into remodeling it into their dream home. Now it is uninhabitable.

All donations from this GoFundMe campaign are being withdrawn by and going directly to Intisar AlHayek (or Sar for short) and Michael Holden to buy the materials they need to rebuild. All donations will be allotted for building supplies and tools. Subfloor for the entire house as well as flooring such as laminate, tile, or carpet. They will also use the money for the crawl space moisture barrier and dehumidifier. Sheetrock and drywall supplies will be purchased next. Then bathroom and kitchen cabinets. Then they will purchase paint and siding with associated supplies. Any left over money will be used to purchase appliances (washer, dryer and deep freezer was located in the garage and were a total loss, as well as the oven was found to have been damaged in the flood.), 3 beds, bedding and clothes and shoes and other essential items they will need immediately to move back into their home.
