Santana’s Fighting Lupus

Donation protected
In May 2008 Santana was diagnosed with SLE (Systemic lupus Erythematosus Lupus).
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease. In this disease, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. It can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, and other organs.

Since her diagnosis, she has suffered tremendously and has had to endure so much pain and countless hospital visits. Having had lupus for over 10 years it has begun to attack her kidneys and they have begun to fail and as a result Santana began dialysis March of 2017.

Medical expenses have proven to be an uphill battle and Santana needs all the financial help she can get while she fights for her life.

On June 19, 2018, Santana was finally placed on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List and listed as Status 1 (Active status). She will remain on that waiting list until she is matched with someone who has passed away yet wishes to donate their organs to those in need.

In addition to being listed as Status 1 on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List, Santana is also tirelessly praying for a living donor. The process to becoming a living donor for Santana is very tedious, however it would save her life. Santana’s blood type is O+ and it is a very rare blood type. She can only receive a Kidney from a donor with the same blood type that she has, O+. In the event someone chooses to be a living donor, Santana’s insurance will cover all medical expenses (travel expenses/ if any, testing, surgery and hospital stay).

To compensate for the financial burden that a living donor can face, any donor has the opportunity to contact the National Living Donor Assistance Program and apply for assistance which will alleviate and help assist in the of

Although Santana does have insurance there are many things that her insurance does not cover and there a lot of medications that she has to pay for out of pocket. Santana’s mother, Eva Graham works tirelessly to help take care of Santana as well as Santana’s 13 year old daughter Saniyah. Being her sole care provider has proven to be very difficult and has become a financial burden.

Santana, Eva and her family& friends are tirelessly praying and having faith that a miracle will take place and she will receive a kidney before her kidney failure proves to be fatal. In an effort to help relieve some of the financial strain that Santana and her family are experiencing this GoFundMe account has been set up to help by way of donations from anyone who feels the gracious enough to do so.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a living donor for Santana you can call Emory University Hospital at [phone redacted]. The only thing you will need to do is give them her name and birthday: Santana Domonique Graham 10/28/84.

We want to thank you all who feel compelled to give or even those who choose to give thought to becoming a living donor. Your continued prayers are always needed and are always appreciated.
