Samuel's Journey

Donation protected
In April 2012, our lives changed forever when we realized something was going on with our precious Samuel. Over the past 16 months, Samuel has seen developmental specialist, neurologist, opthologist, and ENT. He has received occupational, speech, play, and physical therapies since he was 7 months old. On April 17, 2013 Samuel was diagnosed with autism. We knew this was a possibility and have grown stronger as a family and in our relationships with God through this difficult situation. We have reached out to professionals in the autism field literally from East to West Coast. One of the common themes specialists have told us is intense early intervention while Samuel is young is key. At a early age, a lot of the behaviors can be improved or even changed because the brain is still developing. We are seeking help getting Samuel the treatment he needs to be productive in life. An intensive treatment program is 35 - 45 hours a week and ranges from anywhere from $60,000 - $75,000 a year which does not include doctors appointments, other therapies, and special diets.
Unfortunately, the state of North Carolina does not require insurance companies to cover therapies for autism leaving families like ours in a difficult situation. After several months of searching for the best program for Samuel, we decided on ABC School of NC located in Winston-Salem, NC. Samuel will receive 6 hours of one on one intense therapy each day.

We are praying and asking God to provide for us in this difficult situation. Please check out Samuel's blog at
