Samantha Crone's Conflagration Fund

Donation protected

Samantha Crone is a coworker of mine at York Hospital in the Emergency Department where she's a hard working Emergency Nursing Assistant. A couple of months ago, while helping EMS with a patient, Sam was told about a fire in West York, where she lives. To her shock and dismay, her apartment, which she shares with her five year old son, caught fire from the apartment above, damaging her apartment unit to the point that the firefighters would not let her inside to attempt to retrieve anything. She left work to find all her belongings unreachable, unable to even get her photographs. The one drawer of clothes the fire fighters pulled from the apartment are smoke covered and unusable. There was water damage and smoke damage to all her belongings. She only has the one set of scrubs for work that she was wearing that night. Thankfully, neither Sam nor her son were hurt in the inferno, but Samantha has lost her home, her clothes, her furniture...everything, gone, and she did not have renter's insurance. I asked her if I could put this gofundme page together in the hopes of helping her with money for a new apartment, with a first, last and security payment, and maybe some money for renter's insurance or furniture. She has been reluctant to accept help, but I know that folks REALLY want to help. This is the opportunity! Please help Samantha and her son get through this difficult time. Thank you!

UPDATE:
Sam WAS able to salvage her photographs about a week after the fire. Also, she has been looking at new apartments, so keep your fingers, toes and extremities crossed that she is able to settle somewhere soon.

Update 2/2/14

Samantha  has expressed amazement and appreciation for the kindness and generosity shown to her after the fire.  She mentioned that she  "didn't want to keep throwing money away month after month" on rent, after everyone has come together with this tremendous show of support.  She has begun to look for a house to purchase, using the donated money as a down payment. Samantha is opening an account dedicated to saving for a down payment for a home, and all funds donated will go to that account through GoFundIt.  I'll keep you all posted about her housing search. Thanks again!
