Hello everyone!
Wow, I cannot even begin to explain how crazy this past year has been! I've experienced and done a myriad of things, the boldest of which was up and moving to Colorado. That decision was one of the scariest and also BEST things I've ever done. And there is absolutely no way I would have had the courage or strength to make that move on my own...but that's the thing about Jesus - with Him ALL things are possible :)
Since taking the leap of faith and moving to Colorado, my relationship with God has only grown stronger. Being out of my comfort zone in a totally new place - I have had to trust Him and put more faith in Him than ever before. He has really been revealing more of Himself to me which in turn has caused me to learn more about myself and what my passions are.
A couple of years ago, the desire to travel and be the hands and feet of Christ sparked in my heart. I really wanted to travel where not many were willing to travel so that I could pour out Jesus' love to the hurt, lost, and broken. I actually had signed up to do a missions trip through my home church back in Minnesota - but then I felt called to move, so I did. The spark did not fizzle upon moving to Colorado, but quite the opposite; it intensified.
I prayed to the Lord for some months, asking Him if this desire in my heart was placed there by Him. And if it was, I asked Him to let that passion burn stronger and guide me to His will.
I searched different organizations and researched about their missions trips, but wasn't quite able to find that clarity and peace I was hoping for. It wasn't until one night after praying that God would offer some more direction in relation to this desire, that I came across YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and their Discipleship Training School (DTS). It spoke to my heart instantly and I knew that this was an answer to prayer. This was what God had in mind for me.
The Awaken DTS in Kona, Hawaii begins on July 9th, 2015. It is a 6 month long program that is split up into two halves. The first half (Lecture Phase) is focused on "awakening hearts to the great commandment of loving God". It focuses on training and creating a culture of awakened people. It is a time to cultivate intimacy with God as an individual through listening to speakers, application bible studies, prayer and worship, community outreach, and one on one discipleship. This half will be located in Kona.
The second half is the Outreach Phase. This includes taking what I've learned and the transformation that's occured in my heart from Lecture Phase, and putting it into action in the nations. This includes living amongst a different culture and getting to multiply the message of Jesus and really make Him known.
I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to grow with and learn from God. I would love nothing more than to have you all join me on this journey through prayer and support. "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them." - Matthew 18:20. Your prayers are in-valuable to me and to the Lord - I wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer and that the Lord listens and pierces with His presence.
As you can imagine, a mission trip like this requires financial support from a various amount of people. The cost is about $11,000, which would help pay for my housing, food, ministry, and other miscellaneous expenses. If you feel moved to support me financially, I would be so incredibly grateful for your help.
