My name is Sam Daniels. I am asking for your help to support continuing my education.
In February of 2018, I am pursuing an alternative educational opportunity called The Caretaker Hybrid Program that is offered by Coyote Trails School of Nature. Caretaker is an 8-month nature immersion program that transforms individuals into lifelong learners and lifelong educators. At Earth Teach Forest Park where Caretaker is held, I will be living semi-primitively learning about sustainable outdoor living, nature, and tracking. To put it simply, I will have 8 months to be present with myself, people that I love and teachers I believe in. During this time, I hope to write children's books, an autobiographical narrative and gain new experiences that are full of lesson rich stories. These pieces of writing will be created for children to use as words of inspiration and connection. I will pass on the living skills I learn during this class to children to help inspire them to seek a meaningful connection with nature. As a storyteller and educator, I strive to spread an understanding of the importance of nature and most of all, a love for the outdoors. "In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught" -Baba Dioum, 1968. Nature education is key for the protection of the future generations and the natural world. In order to more fully educate children in this way, I must first educate myself. That is why this class is so important to me. All money donated goes directly towards my participation in this $8,000 course.

I have been involved with Coyote Trail's programs since I was six-years-old. This organization has truly altered my life. Here, I developed my passion for working with children. I have taught as an outdoor educator for the past 3 years at Coyote Trails School of Nature in Ashland, Oregon and Blue River Forest School in Overland Park, Kansas. I visualize myself continuing the career of teaching for the rest of my life. I see this course as an investment into my future as a teacher. I love teaching young people and believe that as I grow my knowledge base as an instructor, the lessons that I can offer children will grow in depth and meaning. In my teaching role, I have learned to only teach through experience. This Caretaker class is a pivotal stepping stone in my growth as a mentor. I believe that by taking this class I will be empowered and deeply motivated to change the lives of many children. The educational opportunity that Caretaker offers will give me the tools and experiences I need to better serve the future generations.
