Kerala Disaster Relief By SJM

UPDATE:

9/19/2018: Care And Share will also be providing receipts for the amounts you contributed which can be used for matching the contributions you made. This is applicable only if your company participates in employee matching and as long as Care And Share is in the approved list of charitable organizations of your company. The contributions received through employer matching will be send to CMDRF in Kerala at a later point of time.

9/17/2018: SJM has stopped the fundraising and is no longer accepting donations. This page will continue to be kept open to show documentation / receipts etc. of the funds send to the account of CMDRF in Kerala.

Relentless rains in Kerala has resulted in the worst flooding of the century killing over 400 and displacing over a million people causing extensive damages in many parts of the state. As the floods receded, for many families impacted by the flooding, life is starting to come back to a new normalcy. The displaced families are in temporary places and are working hard to rebuild back their lives. It will be months and years before normalcy is returned for many of these families.

So at this time SJM is requesting the whole-hearted support of everyone who would like to contribute towards the relief and rebuilding efforts. The funds raised would be contributed to the Kerala Chief Ministers Relief Fund to help in the rebuild efforts. 

SJM was formed a few years back by a group of friends and families to bring together the Malayalee residents in the area and to serve in helping the next generation living here in the United States understand the traditional and cultural heritage of Kerala.

We thank everyone who helped us raise more than $14,000 so far. The amount raised also includes funds raised by SJM at a local Gurudwara and events at the Indian Cultural Center in our neighborhood.

100% of the donation will go to Kerala for the relief & rebuild efforts. We will be providing receipt / documentation of the transfer of funds as soon as it is available.

Please note that you have an option to contribute to GoFundMe as well while you donate to this cause. The default is 10%, but you are welcome to change this.
