THE SISO STORY
Staten Island Sandy Outreach began as a simple call to action. It has since grown into a grassroots relief effort & fundraising site: www.sioutreach.com.

We were shocked and saddened to see so many families suffering right here in our hometown after hurricane Sandy hit.
Unable to ignore the cries for help, we began volunteering along with so many friends and neighbors.

"‹After seeing our photos and continuous updates on Facebook, many caring, generous people offered their support.

Some donated gift cards while others provided direct funding so that we could then deliver that support where it was needed most.

It was those offers and the surviving Staten Island spirit that sparked the idea for SI Sandy Outreach.

SISO will act as a hub, providing updates and information about the ongoing relief effort, and access to both our Facebook group and donation pages.

Our goal has been identifying and connecting survivors in need with donors, volunteers, businesses, and other organizations eager to help.

Through the compassion and diligent efforts of our members, we've been able to address specific requests and link them with available resources.

We've witnessed the devastation first-hand and met countless families that survived the loss of memories, cars, homes, and tragically, even neighbors and loved ones.

Thankfully, despite their heartache, they never lost their fighting Staten Island spirit."‹We continue building incredible relationships with families, volunteers, and other outreach organizations in our community.

Staten Island's heart is strong and its residents continue doing their best to see that their neighbors are taken care of.

But this is just the beginning. There is still so much work to be done and we need your help.

We are proud Staten Island residents, former high school acquaintances, current partners and friends brought together in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. And like so many others, we will never be the same.

With over 2,000 members on our SISO Facebook group page, we've made countless connections and helped numerous individuals, families, and businesses.

It's been overwhelming to see the outpouring of generosity and compassion in the wake of this disaster.

Survivors of the storm have expressed tremendous gratitude for the continued support. Their strength is beyond inspiring.

The devastation of Sandy will continue to impact those affected for years to come. We pledge to be here long-term and continue to support Sandy survivors in any way we can.
