Give an orphaned girl in Kenya a future with an education!
Girls in the Kisii community often lose out on the opportunities an education provides. By ensuring all 12 girls living in our Centre go to school we’re creating postive future change for everyone! At Save Haven we strive to the change the lives of every child in our care as well as the community they live in, and in turn the entire world.
We have 6 weeks to raise the necessary funds!
Next year’s school fees are due by January 2, 2018.
Although we’ve raised a portion of the fees through local fundraising activities we are still critically short, which is why we’re reaching out to all of you.
We know that $5,000 is a large number but every donation, whether $1 or $100, adds up and helps us reach our goal of sending every Safe Haven girl to school in January.
Safe Haven Care Centre is a charity dedicated to changing the lives of orphaned and abandoned children in Kisii, Kenya, Africa. Our mission is to support the children in our care so they may reach their full potential as contributing members of society and leaders in their community. In order to fulfill our mission, we have to ensure all of our children are educated, especially the girls, who in this culture, for many reasons do not get such an opportunity.
Our Story
When our 14-year-old son Matthew died suddenly in April 2013, we went looking for a way to honour his memory and share our love with someone else. We started sponsoring 4 children through an Ontario couple who were running a small orphanage in Kenya.
In October 2015 we went to visit the children in Kenya when the couple running the orphanage decided to retire. It was then and there that we understood we had found our calling. We decided to take the care of the children and their community under our wings and we have never looked back.
Upon our return home from Kenya, we incorporated as a non-profit and started to apply for our charitable status with the CRA which was granted to us in April 2017. Through Safe Haven we have made it our mission to ensure all the children in our care are part of a healthy, loving community, have life-changing opportunities and a shot at the future they deserve.
