Jill & Sergeant Linko Medical Fund

Donation protected
This is the collective voice of one medical platoon, in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  Fellow soldiers in the 3rd of the 103rd Armor Medical Platoon have created this page in Sergeant Robert Linko's name.  We are here to respectfully and graciously request assistance for a soldier and his family in need during difficult times.   On 22 September 2015 Sergeant Bobby Linko and his 27 year old wife, Jill, had their lives altered for the immediate and foreseeable future.  Expecting their second child in approximately one month and enjoying the company of their 15 month old daughter, Abigail, several concerning symptoms led the young mother and her husband to the emergency room.  Jill was ultimately admitted to the hospital with congestive heart failure from peripartum cardiomyopathy .

On 24 September 2015, an emergent cesarean section was completed to bring their second daughter, Hailey, into the world, albeit 4 weeks early.   Her lungs were not completely ready to function outside the womb and she required admission into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  She was there until her breathing status was stable and she was released to her father and mother who remained in the hospital.

This journey is in its beginning stages for the couple and their two daughters, but in just this short amount of time their life has become significantly altered and the prognosis for Jill's condition is not clear.  They have a lengthy road to full recovery ahead and certainly a long road back to a semblence of normalcy in their unified life.  Sergeant Linko has willingly accepted his role as his wife's number one emotional and physical support while tending to the newborn baby's needs during his wife's hospitalization and ongoing evaluation by the cardiac specialists at Geisinger Health System's Hospital for Advanced Medicine.   With this emergent role placed upon him, Sergeant Linko has not been able to perform any job duties for his civilian or military occupations.  Also, he cannot keep up on schoolwork that is critical for not only him, but his family's future.  The hardship has a firm grip on his family at this point in time.   Even their 15 month old daughter, Abigail, is affected directly by the situation.  She cannot spend as much time with her parents and new baby sister due to the significance of Jill's condition and need for her father to be by his wife's side.

Please help with this campaign to support a soldier, his wife, and children in this time of need.  This is a very delicate and unique situation for Jill and Sergeant Linko, and even the highly educated and skilled cardiac specialists at Geisinger don't have a clear answer at the present time.  The only aspect of their journey that is clear, is the mounting financial hardship they now face, please help support them to overcome these mounting deficits, and conquer the uphill battle they currently face.

We, as a medical platoon, cannot thank you enough for your contributions to ease our miltary family member's burden.  But we are grateful for your kindness and helping hand to allow our brother in arms and his family to remain with boots firmly planted on the ground.
