FEED THE FRONTLINE WORKERS FIGHTING COVID 19 IN THE INLAND EMPIRE!

This was started by a group of spouses of local healthcare workers and physicians who need:
1. Protective gear
2. A morale boost in the form of caffeine or nutrition.

We may not all be able to help with #1 but we can definitely help with #2.

We can organize delivery from a local restaurant or cafe or coffee shop to our incredible hospital teams who are risking their own lives and risking exposure of their families to care for our community affected by COVID 19. Our healthcare workers are working in tough conditions- they are risking their lives to care for those affected, they are risking exposure to their families by going to work everyday, but they are the ones with the much needed skills to fight this pandemic. 

This effort was started by two physicians who  work in the Inland Empire andwant to provide a morale boost to their colleagues (doctors, janitorial services, nurses, technicians, PAs, trainees) on the frontline. One of the physicians who started this campaign is on the frontline works at these three hospitals and sees the strain that COVID is putting on the teams  that are in the frontline (ERs, ICUs, COVID medicine teams, and consulting teams like GI, cards etc). We are using our connections in the hospital and in the community to assess how we can provide deliveries of food/drinks to workers on the ground at three hospitals. We will use 100% of the proceeds for this effort and keep it going as long as funds allow. We have partnered with local busineses and have been overwhelmed by businesses who are donating drinks and helping us get this off the ground!! WAYS YOU CAN HELP (other than donating money to the cause!):

1. Donate food - if you are able to donate food or drink from your business, please let us know. Even items at a discounted rate helps, and that way we can help keep your local business afloat, too!

2. Donate time - we will need volunteers to make deliveries from the businesses to the hospitals. If this is something you can do, please email [email redacted] to arrange a time and date.

THE WHY: To boost the morale of our hospitals and local businesses

Our hospital healthcare workers are on the frontlines of this pandemic and our local businesses need our help. Covid 19 is taking a toll on our doctors, nurses, technicians, secretaries, hospital cleaning staff and everyone else who contributes to the care of sick patients. As it sweeps through the country, The inland empire has excellent hospitals with hardworking health care workers  who are stepping up to the plate and taking care of those who need it in this trying time.

Our healthcare workers will be infected at higher rates than others. They will be working longer hours and short staffed as the pandemic continues. This will be the most challenging time in their careers- they need our support!

WHO WILL THIS BENEFIT?

Healthcare workers and local businesses! Proceeds will go to delivery coffee and meal service for a different team (with priority at launch being those doctors nurses and techs, cleaners in ER, hospital wards, and intensive care units, frontline consulting teams)  each day with the goal of providing 1-3 party packs (serving 20-40 ppl) at St Bs /Arrowhead county every day as funds allow and distributed! THE PROMISE

We want to feed our local healthcare workers a nutritious meal and caffeine- we want to provide them with coffee runs, lunches and dinners as long as this pandemic lasts and as much as funds allow. Even five dollars counts in these trying times! We will keep you updated with photos! The money will be deposited into a bank account we created for this campaign only and this account will be managed by Saranya Balasubramaniam and used to pay for deliveries.  The money will be used to  purchase and deliver food to healthcare workers at St. B's Hospital on Mondays or Tuesdays, Community hospital of San Bernardino on Wednesdays, and  would like to begin delivering to Arrowhead County on Fridays. We are currently set up to deliver at St. B's and at Community Hospital, and will hopefully start delivering to Arrowhead County next once we hear back from administration. We will partner directly with local inland empire businesses to help keep our businesses afloat and perhaps even benefit from discounted goods as we order for as many teams as we can that are keeping our hospitals running.
