Bucks for a Boiler for SCT!

The Southington Community Theatre is the result of two successful productions produced by the Drama Group of the Southington Woman's Club. In 1956, Goodbye My Fancy was staged at Hatton Elementary School, and Jane, was staged in 1957.
Realizing that to continue with such elaborate productions, a broader spectrum of people was needed, the idea of a community theatre was born.
Spearheaded by Mrs. Betty Price, who was the President of the Southington Woman's Club, Mrs. Eleanor Rowley, Chairman of the Drama Group, and Mrs. Yvonne Clarke, Resident Director, and many other members of the Woman's Club, the theatre group was organized with funds donated by the club. The first 50 members were designated "charter members" and the first meeting was held in August 1957 around the pool at the home of William Ashwell, Prospect Street.
Yvonne was SCT's Resident Director for the first 10 years. She not only directed but also taught the members all there was to know about lighting and set construction.
SCT incorporated on October 18, 1957, and its first production staged was The Tender Trap on November 21-23, 1957 at Hatton School Auditorium.
SCT is in its 59th year, and continues to provide quality, live theatre to the community as well as an opportunity for members of the Southington community and surrounding areas to participate in the production of live theatre.

It's expensive to keep a non-profit, community theatre organization up-and-running. Our board members, actors and production team members all volunteer their valuable time to be a part of our organization - and we are so very thankful for that! However, significant expenses arise each time we set out to produce a piece of theatre, as well as the day-to-day costs of maintaining our rehearsal space which is in desperate need for upgrades.
This winter has been a particularly harsh one, and our aging (but beloved!) rehearsal space in Marion has suffered significantly as a result. We have had ongoing problems with our boiler, and have needed to replace it for some time, but just did not have the funds to support such a significant expense. The frequent below-zero temperatures and biting wind chill over the course of the past month have left us with frozen pipes throughout our space, a boiler that no longer functions, and absolutely no heat in the building.
The situation is dire, and that's where you come in! We are aiming to raise $5000 to replace our boiler system and make multiple significant plumbing repairs throughout the space which have been damaged or compromised due to the frigid temperatures.
Your donation will go directly to Southington Community Theatre, and will be put directly toward this massive project!
