Support Sam & Amber
Donation protected
Sam and Amber spend their days helping care for patients in the ICUs at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. Day in and day out, they put other's needs before their own. Unfortunately, some recent health concerns have interfered with their ability to work, so now we have an opportunity to help them out during this time of need.
To provide a little more information as to when/how this came about, Sam started feeling heart palpitations a few weeks ago. Doctors initially chalked this up to the stress that comes along with being in nursing school, but further testing proved to be much more serious. Sam was diagnosed with ischemic cardiomyopathy from triple vessel disease. Doctors believe his type 1 diabetes and family history of heart disease are largely to blame, as Sam leads an otherwise healthy and active lifestyle. He is scheduled to have a coronary artery bypass graft on Thursday, February 1st, 2018. There is never a good time to face a diagnosis such as this, but it is even more challenging on the Mankes as Amber is still off work recovering from an invasive foot surgery.
Despite all of these setbacks, Sam is determined to graduate from nursing school April 25th of this year. Please help us support Sam and Amber during this rough patch. On behalf of the Manke family, we ask you to consider donating as you are able, in an attempt to ease the burden of their medical bills. If you are looking for alternatives to donating on this site, another great way to help Sam and Amber during the next few weeks would be offering to provide a meal for them. If you are interested in doing this, please text Amber about when a good day would be.
For Amber and Sam's Aurora co-workers, another way to help would be to donate PTO hours. To do this, go to Caregiver Connect -> My HR Navigator -> fill in the "Application Form to Request Donation Program Participation" -> follow the prompts through self-service to create a case. The following information needs to be filled in the form:
Amber's employee ID #: 940413
Organization: Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, MRICU
Please let me know about any questions/other ways to help Sam and Amber. Thank you for taking the time to support them!!
