Please help me help my Son and Grandson
My son Kevin Tubiolo is in need of transportation that will make my 16 yr old grandson Ryan’s life manageable and give him the ability to get to medical appts, visits, and community events he may not be able to attend much longer after his surgery.

Ryan was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. As this disease slowly robs him of his physical ability, it has drastically impacted his quality of life. Ryan stopped walking around age 10 and was completely dependent on a motorized wheelchair by 12. He’ll need breathing assistance with a ventilator by late teens, inevitably leading to heart failure in his 20’s. Raising 2 boys as a single parent has been very challenging for my son to begin with, and as Ryan’s condition worsens, it takes away his simplest motor functions, including rolling over in bed, feeding himself, and even giving his loved ones a hug. He's been through several surgeries already and the most invasive is yet to come. Ryan’s condition has declined much sooner than expected, causing severe scoliosis. He will need spine surgery within months. My son has exhausted all savings and his pension to provide Ryan with a handicap accessible vehicle that meets his special needs.
Expenses in addition for the van:
Uncovered medical expenses, cost of a new van, a variety of financial challenges through Ryan’s surgery and recovery.....etc
Because of Ryan's unexpectedly accelerated decline, His current transportation is making any travel even more difficult and dangerous. The need to purchase a modified, accessible van has become immediate.

Ryan is a courageous and resilient young man who has refused to let his disability define him or hold him back. Right from his wheelchair Ryan has competed in Challenger baseball and football leagues, won gold medals in the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged, numerous academic and community awards and served as the Goodwill Ambassador for the MDA.

Ryan has adopted the theory from the great Jimmy V’s famous ESPY speech:
“Muscular Dystrophy can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, It cannot touch my soul, It cannot touch my heart. Don’t give up…….don’t ever give up”
